Synopsis
In June 1950, the United Nations decided to send military forces under American command to support the South Korean army, facing the invasion of North Korea and China. France's participation took the form of an entirely volunteer unit, the French Battalion of the United Nations (BF/ONU).
Through the testimonies of various participants, and by structuring the narrative around the key moment of the Battle of Jipyeong-ri, Hayoun Kwon chooses to give a human face to the suffering common to all wars, while highlighting the solidarity and friendship that developed between the French troops and Korean soldiers embedded in the Battalion.
