Last Train from Kaohsiung
Synopsis
One day, the village chief’s son, Dai-tong, chases after Tsui-tsui, a farm girl he fancies. As he tries to force himself on her, hen Chung-i, a university student studying in Taipei, comes to her rescue. As the summer holiday comes to an end, Chung-i promises Tsui-tsui that he will marry her and gets ready to catch the last train from Kaohsiung to Taipei. When Tsui-tsui is stopped by her father and Dai-tong, missing the chance to say goodbye she decides to escape her arranged marriage and go to Taipei to pursue the romance she desires.

LIANG Che-fu
Born in 1920, LIANG Che-fu worked as a high school art teacher and served in the army. After WWII, he got involved in theater and later film, working as a script supervisor and screenwriter before directing Cantonese films in Hong Kong. He later moved to Taiwan and became renowned as a Taiwanese-language filmmaker.
